So beautifully written - I don't thank people enough for what they do to brighten our lives and reflect them back to us so well. Nga mihi, Leah

You are lovely to say so! 🧡🕯️

Your writing has always been exceptional, so HOW can it keep getting even better? You’re so clever Leah. Your workshoppers are lucky to have you xx

Lovely writing -and such a loss that complicated man - so talented, thoughtful and friendly - 'just Sam'

Was Land worth it? I passed Whitcoulls today and saw it on the frontmost table but thought of the misery and didn’t.

Ok. Enough said. Thank you.

Carrie. It was a DIRGE

so, what we refer to as simply, "The Wave," y'all call a "Mexican Wave"? Curious juxtaposition ...

I've been here so long I can't remember what I used to call it (back in the US) - is it just "the wave?" Huh....

Thank you for putting into words my winter days in this untamed house!

Hmm I’m not sure I have the stamina for Land. Not on the back of The Woman in the Seal Skin…no fiddles to be seen in the Orkneys of the 1690s. Grateful we both have wood and not peat, Leah

It's only the second Maggie O'Farrell I've ever read. Are they all like this, I wonder?

A Stranger Came Ashore by Susan Cooper seems a perfectly good dupe for that book you mentioned. Relentless misery is also not for me

Neat T.S.Elliot reference there. :)
