A warming surprise thank you Leah- so very nice to see - like the sun finally appearing at 4 pm for a nanosecond on this the almost shortest day

Baked pudding always sounds like a good idea but somehow my results are disappointingly gluggish- must be time to start defrosting some bags of late summer/autumn feijoas for muffins and porridge.

Ooh, slurp! The pudding is failsafe on the Chelsea Sugar website - I used super dark cocoa

Loved this. So relatable. My son is also playing Nirvana on guitar and was deeply unimpressed with me when I said “you know it’s possible Courtney Love wrote all of Nirvana’s songs” 😅

I love to hear about winter gloom! Matariki celebrations come at just the right time for my winter gloomies and we had a delicious celebration lunch yesterday with our lovely family. I am useless at making winter cooked puddings, being gluten free and dairy free. However our saviour recipe has been a vegan version of Hersheys pie. It's so good it nearly makes us want to cry grateful tears of joy :)

Nirvana. It's always Nirvana at that age. Our eldest tried to get the school choir to sing a Nirvana song. To their credit they met them half way with "The Man Who Sold The World" (a Bowie song). That was 15 years ago. The more the world changes, the more it seems to stay the same. Great to have you back to lighten Substack a bit Leah, even during these grey times.

Frosted over windscreens is a bit of cruel trick first thing in the morning
