Gorgeous, Leah. I'd welcome a bit of calm right now - I think we all would. Is it bad that I teared up at the mention of horses in the war? I remember reading War Horse to Ruby and I often had to stop to choke down the tears.

It has been a while since we went to Makara, but now we have moved to Karori there is really very little excuse. What a lovely post and so glad I stumbled upon your substack.

Classic, loved the port bit. Macrons push your wiggly top left (beside the number 1) key as well as the letter you want the macron over ...... ē voila!

Lovely read, thanks. I must have visited Makara as a car sick child because I never wanted to return, but did a few years ago on a small road trip with my folks and brother. I was surprised how close it was to Karori.

Lucy! It certainly is a sick-making road. Our dog once spectacularly threw up in the back seat, between the kids. No breakfast for him, if we take him along again.
