I seldom laugh out loud when reading anything, but I was bent double at your parking experience after sighting shirtless builder. You go, girl!

“They ignored this, because it’s the school holidays and we’ve spent so much quantity time together (none of it, quality) that they see my outline but no longer recognize my solid mass.” 😂

Love your description of Karori! So nice chatting in the shop today. Let me know if you’d like me to take your dog for a few short jogs - I’ll have that 2kg off in no time and you can take all the credit when you visit the vet next.

It was a GORGEOUS chat! And I can’t wait to see my daughter’s face when she unwraps her purse-inside-a-bag! Also, I’d definitely read a blog about your shop….😉

Our lives are running in parallel again. I just had some strange spots on my forehead looked at too but missed the pleasure of a fungal scrape. Mine are sun damage and pre-cancerous so it's a lovely combination of two creams (one used for chemo!).

I have two tradies here today replacing our gas fireplace. Neither is shirtless and I really hope neither will be in my presence. How did you get so lucky?!

Okay, these are freaky coincidences!

If they take off their tops, have someone hide your car keys

Utterly brilliant - I’m on the bus again and, despite trying to hold it it in, I laughed out loud.. tickled as ever! As a fungal scraper in a former life, I did appreciate the aforementioned anecdote… a reminder of my happy mycology days. Thank you Leah (and fingers crossed it’s just a passing flushing rash from too much male testosterone in the area!!).

What a delight it is to wake up on Sunday mornings UK side and find you in my inbox, Leah. Not a euphemism, after all your hot and cold talk! So funny. And educational. Did not know about that New Zealand artist and she sounds/looks tremendous.

Another fantastic read.

PS, I just clicked autoplay to see what voice Substack has given your narrator, and it’s a bloke! But I played it anyway, so Ian could share the delight of your writing before we get on with the day. He is now also a fan!

Ooh, I didn't know about this function! I must test it for myself. And Ian is very, very welcome xx

If I’m reading on the app on my phone, it’s the play button at the very top of the screen, left of the three dots and the little box. We all get American auto-narrators. Mine has a female voice, but she definitely can’t do Yorkshire dialect, which is sometimes necessary!
