I nearly spat out my tea at your preening Tui/90s garage band comparison.

Reminds me so much of the Wellington Equinox "trampolines flying" Spring that I miss. In Titahi Bay in the early Sixties,we had never heard of trampolines but my mate Dave and I used to thrill to the howling onshore Nor-Westers which meant large waves. The winds were so strong that we had to carry one surfboard at a time between the two of us to the water's edge.Otherwise the boards and we would be blown head over hills up the beach.

We never saw any native birds. They must have been blown to Karori. Gary McCormick.

I was ‘there’ at the kids concert with you Leah, an utter delight, thank you.

My now 48yo daughter was a reluctant bunny at ballet when she was tiny. Very shy, she wobbled onstage and then sat down and remained there for the duration of the number. Might have closed her eyes. Ah, memories.

Ah - a true Wellingtonian’s favourite season! (Jokes!) Fabulous as eva, Leah. And I hear you about the mushrooms. I had a similar situation recently. They look innocent but have turned evil!

I love that you are surrounded by tui couples, we have way too many polygamist mallard ducks on our dam.

Yeah, they're very middle-class. Especially the kaka with their bourgeois little leg bands

Total delight reading this, as always, Leah. The birds, the school play, every detail. Yay for spring in New Zealand as I head into autumn in the UK.
